Today, the Cape Verde Islands are opening up to tourists and investors seeking a rich blend of sun, glistening seas, top class resorts and quality builds and at an affordable price. If you enjoy fine beaches, beautiful scenery, vibrant cultures, then Cape Verde will not disappoint.

What the experts say about Cape Verde

Property Investor News:

“Investment Property in Cape Verde is currently one of the best locations worldwide to buy property when looking for a good ROI (Return on Investment). It’s clear to see the potential of these islands and as soon as Cape Verde becomes a mainstream holiday destination the price of property there will almost certainly increase drastically.”

Expedia.co.uk:

A survey conducted by Expedia, one of the largest web based holiday companies, recently declared Cape Verde the number one destination for British tourists this year. Elyas Chowdhury, marketing director of Expedia.co.uk observed, “Our customers prefer to head off the beaten track rather than continue to go back to traditional tourist hot spots”.

He also said “all-year-round sunshine, white beaches and the Creole culture had helped to make Cape Verde the top location for Britain’s most jet-setting tourists.”

Weather Cape Verde’s climate is pleasantly tropical with year round average temperatures between 26° and 30° C, uninterrupted sunshine from November to May and a rainy season between the months of June and October, when sudden but spectacular rainstorms can punctuate the hot sun. The wind also brings some benefits, such as lower humidity and the islands are particularly popular for kite and windsurfing.

Figures for rainfall can be quite misleading as they are wildly different on each island. Sal, Boa Vista and São Vicente receive almost no rain while on some of the higher peaks on Santo Antão and Fogo there is up to 2 metres of rainfall a year, making them lush and green. Tempartures also vary from island to island and within each island, - in the desolate centres of the flat islands, temperatures can reach 40 degrees whereas the coastal areas generally remain in the high twenties.

Getting There Direct Flights from the UK- London Gatwick to Sal or Boa Vista

Manchester to Sal or Boa Vista

Birmingham to Sal

Currently flights from the UK are weekly, with a flight time of just over 5 hours. You have no 'jet lag' to worry about as the time difference is only one hour GMT.

Daily flights are available from Lisbon International airport. Flying time approx 3 hours.

Island to Island. Flying is the most practical way of travelling between the islands. There is a regular ferry operating between São Vicente and Santo Antão.

Getting Around. Taxis are readily available in the larger towns and resort areas and are generally of a good standard. Although they work on a meter they can at times be ‘creative’ so it is always worth agreeing the cost before setting off. A two to three mile journey should cost around 3 Euro.

The most inexpensive way of getting around are the aluguers’ that are easily identified and drive around the town and are often full of passengers and packages. You simply shout when you want to get off.
